GYE's Anonymity
Your anonymity is important to us. The many tools and services on our network are mostly either on-line, in print or by phone. What makes this so powerful is that it ensures complete anonymity for those who turn to us for help. This is one of the greatest secrets to our success, because anonymity, especially in these sensitive areas - and all the more so in the religious community, is one of the main inhibitions of people reaching out for help.
We harness the very power of the anonymity and accessibility of the internet which has fueled this epidemic, to reach and help thousands of Jews throughout the world that conventional therapeutic approaches would otherwise not be able to reach.
On our forum, charts, hotlines and phone conferences, only nicknames and non-revealing e-mail addresses are used. For starters, you may want to make yourself an anonymous e-mail address (something like growingJew@gmail.com). To create an anonymous e-mail address, click here.
Our Anonymous Forum
GYE takes internet safety very seriously. While the need to be cautious is vital no matter where you surf, it is even more important when you are involved in a forum that caters to sex/lust addiction. The GYE forum is completely anonymous and should remain that way. Posts should not contain any personal information such as real last names (although using real first names is healthy for recovery), email addresses, telephone numbers or personal websites. Avoid mentioning any information that a third party could use to locate you - your school or shul name, favorite hangout spot, etc. are examples of things not to discuss on the forum.
Our Anonymous Phone Conferences
We use free companies for our phone conference calls, and your name / telephone number is not seen by anyone. If you are afraid to speak up on the conference calls (in case someone recognizes your voice) you can listen in without speaking. Over time, you will likely feel more comfortable and open up to the other guys on the call. (After all, their secret is your secret!)
Anonymous Phone Partners
Use Google Voice when sharing your telephone number with other strugglers on GYE (for example, when you get yourself a partner). As one member wrote on the forum:
Google Voice is a virtual phone number that is forwarded to any phone you want, has text capabilities, also converts voice mail to texts, really cool and it's FREE by Google. I use it as my anonymous phone number for addiction purposes only, so I can give my phone number without revealing who I am.
